p. 244 and 245 Thomas HENDERSON to William WINDHAND This Indenture made this fifth of Jany Anno Domino Eighteen hundred and twelve between Thomas HENDERSON of Grainger County and State of Tennessee of the one part and William WINDHAM of the same county and sate of the other part witnesseth that the said Thomas Henderson for and in consideration of the sum of Five hundred and thirty Dollars to him in hand paid the receipt and payment whereof is hereby acknowledged hath and by these presents doth grant bargain alien ... and confirm unto the said William WHINDHAM his heirs and asigns forever a certain tract or parcel of Land containing two hundred and sixty five acres be the same more or less lying and being in the county aforesaid on the near waters of GERMAN CREEK bounded as follows ( to Wit)
beginning at a Spanish Oak have thow on the old line thence east thirty eight poles to the Spring branch Thence up the SPRING RANCE North seventeen degrees west twenty six poles to a water Oak above the head of the spring thence east one hundred and twenty seven poles to a post oak then south twenty eight poles to a stake near WILLIAM SHORT ‘s house then East three hundred and eighty poles to a hickory and Chestnut Saplin thence north eighty five poles to a hickory thency West Two hundred and eight poles to a white oake then North twenty seven Poles to a White Oak then west two hundred and eighty two poles to two black oaks then south with the old line to the beginning with all and singular the ways, waters water courses profits commodities appurtenances whatsoever to the said tract of land belonging or

appertaaining and the reversion and reversion remainder and remainders Rents and issues thereof and all the estate right title interest property claim and demand of him the said Thomas Henderson his heirs and assigns forever of in and to the same and every part and parcel thereof eith in law or equity to have and to hold the said Two hundred and Sixty five acres of land with the appurtenances unto the said William WINDHAM his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claim and demand of all and every person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presnets. In witness whereof the Thomas Henderson hath hereunto set his hand and seal this day and date first above written.
