Okay NEW theory.
John Henderson. Appeared on the 1830 census and I figured he was born approx. 1780
I also know for a fact, by looking at some deeds, that Johnny is the son of Judge Richard Henderson. I also know he had some land given to him when Rich died. Yep, in Grainger.
So what if Stephen's father was John? Steven's first born son's name WAS John....
